Therese (Terry) Strehl (nee Hagerty) of Rutherford, loving wife of 56 years to the late Eugene Martin Strehl and mother of nine children died peacefully on May 28, 2012, surrounded by her loved ones.

Therese attended St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Passaic, NJ, and went on to work for St. Mary’s Hospital as a registered nurse. She was also a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II.

Music was an integral part of her life. She was a member and soloist with The Church of St. Mary Choir for many years and was also active in the church as a receptionist and as a member of Our Lady’s Rosary Makers and Altar & Rosary Society.

Therese was the beloved mother and mother-in-law of Terry Anne and Ralph Horan of Palm Bay, Fla., Eugene Martin the III and Sheila of Ambler, Pa., Cathy Egbert of Rutherford, Ann and Bernie Menninger of Leesburg, Va., Gary of Reston, Va., Mary Beth Corcoran of Bernardsville, Nanette of Rutherford, Amy and Parviz Ansari of State College, Pa., and Patrick and Maureen of Washington Township. She was the sister of Patricia McGowan of Spring Lake, N.J., Mary Ballman of Rouses Point, N.Y., Mildred Bill of Flemington, N.J., and the late Ann Sullivan of Wharton, N.J. She was also the adored grandmother of nineteen and the great grandmother of six.

A private wake will be held on Saturday June 2, followed by 10:30AM Mass of Christian Liturgy in the Church of Saint Mary, 91 Home Ave., Rutherford. Interment: Holy Cross Mausoleum, North Arlington
