Judith Hardin (nee Vaughan) passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the age of 70.
Born to Richard and Marylou Vaughan in the Bronx and raised in Hasbrouck Heights, Judith attended Immaculate Heart Academy in Washington, NJ, before receiving her Bachelor's degree in English from Montclair State University. She later earned a Master's degree in communication from Paterson State University.
Prior to retiring, she proudly taught English in the Nutley School district for 36 years. She was a member of NJEA, NJCTE, and worked countless hours on committees and after school to improve the education of her students. A dedicated and well-loved teacher, Judith was also in contact with many students after graduation. At her retirement dinner, ten colleagues stood and acknowledged they became teachers because of Judith's influence as their teacher.
Judith was also a devote Catholic and active in her church. She was a member of the Parish Council, the Leaven of God prayer group, the Renew program as well as being a Eucharistic minister and CCD teacher. Her gifts of sharing, thoughtfulness and compassion were always present.
When she had time, she enjoyed traveling, attending plays and movies, music, reading and being with friends and family.
She is lovingly survived by her devoted husband John, her brother Donald and his wife Judith, her brother William, her brother-in-law David and his wife Jan and by a niece and nephews.
