Obituary for Vera L. Ponti

Vera L. Ponti
On Friday, December 11, 2020, Vera Ponti, loving wife and mother of two children, passed away unexpectedly at the age 61 in Hackensack, New Jersey.
Vera was born on July 23, 1959 in Queens, NY to Frank and Joan (McDonald) Rotter. She graduated from Mineola High School in Long Island, New York, Class of 1977.

She was employed as an assistant store manager for the last 5 years by Lakeshore Learning. For 22 years Vera was known as everyone's "second mom" as she took care of children in her home.
On June 20, 1981, she married Charles Ponti, Jr. They raised two daughters, Danielle and Nicole. Vera had a passion for crafting and a selfless commitment to sharing all of her talents with friends and family. She loved all things Disney, relaxing on the beach with a good book "working her tan", she enjoyed going on vacations to explore new places with her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Grammy always told her grandsons she "loved them to the moon and back" and they were "sunshine." She loved cooking meals with her daughters for her friends and family to enjoy.

Vera was preceded in death by her father, Frank, and her mother, Joan. She is survived by her husband Charles, her two children, Nicole Ponti, Rutherford, New Jersey; and Danielle Sweeney, her husband Michael Sweeney and their sons, Nathan and Grant, Buffalo, New York; brother Christopher Rotter, his wife, Sara Simmons, and niece Hadley Rotter, Miller Place, New York; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Ponti and Rosemary Hyland, Rutherford, New Jersey; and numerous cousins and friends.
Vera will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. The countless memories we all shared with her will live on in our memories forever.
