Valerian Joseph Mayerczak, 78, a resident of Rutherford, NJ passed away October 14, 2018. Born in Passaic, NJ to Joseph Mayerczak & Francis Samek. He was a United States Army Veteran who proudly served form 1964-1968.

Valerian has been married to his loving wife Maryann for 53 years; together they have raised two loving sons Michael & Jeffrey.
Valerian was an English teacher for 37 years for Clifton High School. He was a member of the Clifton Teacher’s Association and the International Reading Association.
In addition to teaching, his entrepreneurial drive resulted in him founding and operating two businesses: a home estate liquidation service and a wedding video recording service. In Valerian’s spare time he enjoyed fishing, cooking, telling bad jokes and he loved to Polka dance.

His wife Maryann, sons; Michael & Jeff Mayerczak and his wife Narges, grandchildren; Mina & Leili will miss Valerian. His daughter Lori Lynn and siblings Edward Mayerczak & Alberta Puzio predeceased him.


Family will receive friends Thursday 2-4pm & 7-9pm in the Calhoun–Mania Funeral Home 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford.
Funeral Friday 9am from Funeral Home for 10am Mass of Christian Liturgy in the Most Sacred Heart RC Church, Wallington.
Interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery, 120 Saddle River Rd., So. Hackensack.
