Life Story for Linda Stuart Holman

Linda lived her life with grace, class, and humility. She was a very caring and gentle soul. Linda treated everyone that she encountered with kindness and a warm touch. She cared deeply for her family and always put their well-being ahead of her own.
Linda grew up in Clifton, NJ where she married her grade school sweetheart Dennis, whom she met in the 6th grade. Linda, who he affectionately referred to as “Bird”, enjoyed a long happy life with Dennis and their two sons, William and Robert, and their wives Jeanine and Debra and her treasured five grandchildren Paige, Madison, Alexis, William, and Mabel, who lovingly referred to her as “Nona”. Linda was also loved by many extended family members.
Linda took great joy and pride in enriching the lives of others and served as an educator for over 35 years at Assumption School in Woodridge, NJ where she taught middle schoolers Algebra, Biology and American History. Linda developed many profound and long-lasting relationships with her colleagues and former students and always enjoyed keeping track of her students’ successes well beyond their middle school years.
Linda graduated summa cum laude, first in her class at Fairleigh Dickenson University. She and her students received several science awards, both regional and national.
Linda was a resident of Rutherford for over 50 years and proudly spent most of her life in the house that her parents and grandparents had lived in. Linda loved all animals, especially dogs and was happy to have enjoyed their companionship for almost her entire life.
When not in Rutherford, Linda loved spending time on the Island of Bermuda. She fell in love with Bermuda on her honeymoon in 1969 and returned hundreds of times thereafter with her family and friends. In her travels to Bermuda and at her home away from home, the Newstead, Linda met many lifelong friends with whom she enjoyed many cherished memories with over the years and was happy to have been blessed with their camaraderie.
In spending time in Bermuda, Linda became very fond of dolphins and enjoyed spending quality time with them at one of her favorite places on the Island, Dolphin Quest. Linda made countless trips to Dolphin Quest with her children, grandchildren, students, and friends and may have in the process set a world record for the most visits. She was proud to have served as an unofficial ambassador for Dolphin Quest and later on, in a more official capacity.
Although the last few years proved to be challenging and difficult on so many different fronts, Linda always held her head high, remained resilient and enjoyed spending time with her family and kept in touch with friends and loved ones by any means possible. We love her very much and will miss her dearly and will always keep her close in our hearts.
Linda is predeceased by her parents Alice and William. Survived by her husband of 53 years Dennis, her sons William and Robert, daughters-in-law Jeanine and Debra, and granddaughters Paige, Madison, Alexis, Mabel and grandson William.
