James J. Surdovel, 82, recently of Manchester, formerly a resident for 25 years of Rutherford, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020. Born in Jersey City to Andrew and Mary (nee Bried) Surdovel. James had attended Seton Hall University receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. He was married to Anne (nee Dearing) for 57 years before she passed away in 2019. James and Anne raised their three children in Rutherford. Before retirement, James worked for the US Postal Service in Jersey City.

In his spare time, he loved to play golf and tennis and also enjoyed boating at the NJ shore.

James will be greatly missed by his children; James and wife Lorain, Kathleen Tsiolas and husband Gus, Thomas Surdovel, and also by his 6 grandchildren; Anjelica, Christopher, Alexander, Emily, Sophia, Richard, and by his sister Catherine Surdovel. James is predeceased by 2 sisters and 2 brothers.

Family will receive friends Friday 4-7pm in the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford.

Mass of Christian Liturgy in in the Church of Saint Mary, Rutherford.
Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
