Obituary for Dorothy Hansen
Dorothy Hansen passed away on February 15, 2021, at the age of 88. Born in Brooklyn, she
lived most of her life in Queens, NY, before moving to Rutherford 14 years ago.
Dottie was the wife of the late Edward Hansen and the beloved mother of the late Linda
Martorana. She is survived by her daughters Karen Schwartz and Donna Raffanello and their
spouses Michael and Alan.
She was a loving grandmother to Jeffrey, Samantha, Christine and Richard and a cherished aunt
to many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her loving sisters Louise and Gertrude and brother Charles.
Dottie lived her life with a kind heart and had a wonderful sense of humor. She brought a lot of
laughter to those around her and she had many close friends. She worked at Seagrams in NYC
for ten years before devoting herself to raising her family in Ozone Park, NY. She then spent
many years as a caregiver to the disabled and elderly while also taking time to travel on many
bus trips, which she enjoyed.
While in Rutherford, she met many new friends and participated in activities at the Kip Center.
Dottie spent her last years at Maywood Nursing Home. Her family would like to express their
deep gratitude and thanks to the staff for the wonderful care she received there.
Family will receive friends Saturday 12:00 to 3:00pm in Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 2:30pm Rev. Peter Wilkinson, Officiating. Private Cremation.
